June 30th, 2006 My Weekend at David and Sarah’s/ Going To The Cinema

I finished work at three thirty and dashed home to get myself bathed and ready, David was picking me up at five o clock. We were going to the cinema to see X Men The Last Stand. I’d prepared my bag the night before, but it wasn’t David that came it was Sarah, he was watching the football.

Sarah had made pasta and bolognese so we ate that before we went. David ordered a taxi to take us to the cinema at Cheshire oaks, we were early so we had a drink ’til it was time, it’s very nice with all the different restaurants and everywhere is lit up.

I watched the first X Men during the week to remind me of the plot, unfortunatelly i didn’t see X Men ii. I thought the film was pretty good, lots of action and special effects.

June 24th, 2006 Anthony’s Birthday

Today i am off to my friend Kathy’s, it’s her sons birthday so we are all going out. I had to get the bus to town then the train to Old Roan. We got a taxi to the Bakers Dozen in Maghull for dinner, her dad Arthur and his partner Joan, Anthony and his girlfriend Emma, Kathy and me. They do pay for one meal and get the other free so it’s good value. I really enjoyed my salmon in citrus and butter sauce, it was very tasty. As he usually does Arthur paid for the meals, then we went to a little social club, it was very nice and the people were nice and friendly. Kathy had asked about having Anthony’s birthday announced and they asked one of the regulars would she do her Happy Birthday Marilyn Monroe style. They made him sit on a chair while she sang and wiggled around him. It was hilarious and the look on his face was a picture.

June 20th, 2006 Back To Work

My first day back at work :( one day in and i don’t feel like i have been away from the place roll on two thirty ! All i can think about is getting back to my Hamada in Egypt.

June 19th, 2006 Shopping

I got up this morning with the intention of going into town to re-stock my fridge. I telephoned Hamada, it was too late for me to speak to him when i got home last night. We talked about when i can go again and i can’t wait. Then i got myself ready and took myself off into town, i had decided when i go away again i wanted a small trolley case for my hand luggage, i was fed-up lugging bags on my shoulder, so i thought i could have a look. while i was in town at the same time. I got off the bus at Lewis’s and walked through the store, and lo and behold there was what i was looking for, small trolley cases and they were reduced from £29:99 to £9:99 ! So i thought i will go back and pick one up. I came out of Lewis’s and went into De Espana a shoe and accessory shop and found myself a pair of wedges and a shoulder bag for my next trip ! So i got those and went back and got the trolley case. Then i went to Tesco for some food, i got a chicken, that would do me for a couple of days and some salad and bread and milk, that was all i could carry now!

June 18th, 2006 My First Day Home

I woke in the morning to the dreaded task of getting the holiday washing done, by the time i finished my flat looked like a chinese laundry. And i was missing my Hamada, i was dreading the weeks ahead.

Joyce and Pam telephoned me in the evening which was nice, it was nice to hear from them and they were very supportive. I had a bottle of wine my friend at work Maureen bought me and spoke on the telephone  to my other friend Elaine. We talked for an hour or more by which time it was time for my bed.

June 17th, 2006 Going Home

Ruth woke me about 4am we had a taxi booked for about 5am, so i just had time to shower and dress. I could hardly speak to Hamada i was too choked and feared once the tears started they would not stop. So i left him in bed so he could sleep a while longer, he doesn’t like goodbyes either.

Our taxi arrived to take us to Cairo airport, our flight was 6:30 to Paris. The flight was on time and without problems. When we arrived at Paris we had two hours before our next flight was due, plenty of time for refreshments and Ruth and Doug to have a cigarette. But no, by the time we were driven all around the airport to our departure terminal our flight was boarding, it was ridiculous. We boarded our flight and by this time we were hungry again, but all we got was a cheese sandwich made from one round of bread !

We arrived at Manchester airport on time and our taxi home was waiting for us, the weather was typical of our climate grey and miserable, just how i felt. I was staying at Ruth and Dougs and fell asleep soon after we got in. When i woke up they’d eaten, they said they couldn’t wake me for mine. We got ourselves ready and went out for a few drinks. We weren’t out late because we were all fairly tired.

I spent the Sunday at Ruth and Dougs, we didn’t do anything just flopped out ’til she took me home in the evening. :(

June 16th, 2006 Our Last Day

Today is our last day and i dread it because again i have to come home alone. We had our breakfast, Ruth and Doug wanted to go to the Egyptian Museum, Hamada goes to the mosque every Friday so he said we would go after he had been there. I’d had another telephone call at 4am so Hamada and me went to speak to guest relations but they couldn’t understand how when i’d had a telephone block put on whoever was getting through, Hamada insisted it was someone working at the hotel but they wouldn’t have it. So we never did get to the bottom of it or find out who it was.
Ruth and Doug went to do their packing and i went by the pool for my last sun-bathe. Joyce and Pam were already there so i joined them. We were enjoying the sun, relaxing and talking and i was minding my own business when suddenly i was showered with cold water. I didn’t know where it had come from ’til a fellow bather pointed upwards, when i looked up there was Ruth hanging out the window of her room, six floors up with a bottle of water ! Laughing her head off she was, the minx.

When Hamada came back i went to shower and get ready to go out. We took the metro to the museum, it is huge and there is so much to see you need to make several visits but it’s not permitted to take photographs inside the museum which was a pity.

After the museum we went for a chicken burger, then walked along the Nile. We stopped at a cafe on the way and relaxed by the river for a while watching the boats go by.

When we got back to the hotel i went to do my packing, Joyce, Pam and the boys were downstairs so Hamada went down to see them. In a way i was glad because i would probably have got upset. After i finished my packing, i really hate this part, i showered and got ready to go downstairs. It was quite late when Ruth and Doug went down with me, i had to prise Hamada away from his new friends so we could go and eat. We ate in the hotel, usually i’d been happy with whatever i ordered but i was disappointed with my meal tonight, though i have to say everyone else enjoyed theirs. When we had eaten we went to join the others, the boys were very happy to see us, and Mahmoud was saying ” oh where have you been i missed you”, ah nice of him to say. We had a few drinks but couldn’t stay too late because we all had to be up early for our flights. It was a sad time but we had fun and made the most of our last night together, you have to so you have something nice to look back on and remember.

June 15th, 2006 At the Pool

Last night Hamada said he wasn’t doing anything or going anywhere today except to stay by the pool, and as you may have noticed that is not a problem for me. When we went for breakfast Hamada told Ruth and Doug we had another telephone call at 4am, he said he told me to answer it but when i did they put the telephone down. I said,” I don’t remember that”, “No, he said because you drank too much vodka”. OOPS. Pam and Joyce were already at the pool when i got there so i joined them. When Hamada came he said i’d had another telephone call.
Joyce and me followed the sun around and left Hamada and Pam chatting under an umbrella. Ruth and Doug came later and we all had a nice afternoon together.

Ruth and Doug went out to eat, Hamada and me went to eat in the hotel. After we ate we went upstairs to watch a show, we tried to telephone Ruth and Doug but Ruth had fallen asleep. We waited a long time for the show to start, two females and a male sang some songs, but we had started to feel tired ourselves so we didn’t get to see all the show,we had to leave before it finished.

June 14th, 2006 Hamada’s Return

I went for my breakfast with Ruth and Doug but for me it wasn’t the same eating without Hamada. I’d got into a routine and really missed him sitting opppsite me. Also the telephone calls were starting to freak me out, i had another one at 4am but they put the phone down when i answered.

Ruth and Doug went out after breakfast so i stayed by the pool and waited for Hamada to return. It was fairly late in the afternoon when Hamada arrived back, i’d fallen asleep as usual so he had to wake me. I told Hamada about the calls again and we telephoned the manager. In the evening we met Joyce and Pams boyfriends Huba and Mahmoud. They were very nice and it turned out  they only lived ten minutes drive from Hamada and he had been at university with one of their brothers. Joyce, Pam and me went to watch a wedding being held at the hotel and left the boys chatting. When they finished Joyce and Pam gathered all the rose petals and showered them over me.

Ruth and Doug joined us later and we all had a few drinks, it was getting quite late and i was getting quite squiffy, Hamada and me hadn’t eaten so the boys dropped us off in town and we went for a KFC. We walked back along the Nile and met three young girls on the way. two were ten and the youngest was five, she held my hand and looked up to me like i was a goddess. They were totally enraptured by me it was so inspiring. The elder brother to one of the girls was walking along behind them and when it was time to go our seperate ways they waved ’til we were out of site. It was lovely.

June 13th, 2006 Hamada’s journey/ Making Friends

Today i am very sad, my Hamada had to go for his army papers to show he is free to travel and because of the distance stay overnight. We had breakfast together with Ruth and Doug, then he had to leave. I was so depressed at the thought of being without him, even for just a day, but it was more like two days.

I went to spend the afternoon by the pool, Ruth and Doug came down later. We had made acquaintance with two ladies from Essex, Pam and Joyce and when we got chatting learned they had Egyptian boyfriends. When i told them i had just gotten married to an Egyptian man they were over the moon and hugged and kissed me. We spent the rest of the afternoon chatting together, and exchanging stories. It is very nice when you meet someone in similar circumstances as yourself, you don’t feel like you are the only one and they can understand how you are feeling.

While i was getting ready to go out in the evening i had another phone call, at first i thought it was Joyce, but it turned out to be the same man as before. This is getting weird.

Ruth, Doug and me took a taxi to the Marriott Hotel, Joyce and Pam told me about it and how beautiful it was. They said to try Harry’s Bar there. When we arrived we marvelled at the beauty of it, apparently it was a palace one of the kings had built for his queen. We had our dinner in Harry’s Bar and a few drinks then returned to our hotel.
